About the Teachers:
Hi! I'm Jonathan McHugh and I am studying Art Education at Colorado State University with an emphasis in Drawing. I have been an artist for as long as I can remember and it is one of my biggest passions. Music is also an important part of my life, and I love to play guitar, drums, mandolin, and violin. I also enjoy fly-fishing, backpacking, hiking, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family. I believe that building positive relationships with other people is crucial to enjoying life and making it better for others, and this strongly impacts my approach to teaching. I have absolutely loved all of my teaching experiences through CSU, working at summer camps, and teaching music lessons. I’m excited to be working with 4th/5th grade students at Polaris this semester and I know we will all have a great time and learn a ton!

Hello Everyone! My name is Lizzy Clay and I am working on a second bachelors in Art Education at Colorado State University. I have a BFA (Bachelor in Fine Art) in Sculpture from Western State Colorado University where I spent 5 years exploring my passion for Art. I love the outdoors to include: Skiing, Hiking, running with my dog Banja, and so much more! I was also lucky enough to spend four years coaching the gymnastics program- this experience taught me that teaching was for me. Which brings me to an awesome opportunity of working at Polaris. I am so excited to work with the fourth and fifth graders in Tom's class and help bring their own passions to light through our "Creative Thinking Lab" Art Unit. The best part of teaching is learning from the students I get to work with- I am eager to learn from the students in this 4th/5th grade class!
